Nowe Zoo Poznań

Nowe Zoo w Poznaniu, założone w 1974 roku na Białej Górze, to drugi co do wielkości ogród zoologiczny w Polsce. Obejmuje obszar 120,68 ha, usytuowany na pagórkowatym terenie leśnym, gdzie znajdują się sześć rozległych stawów o łącznej powierzchni przekraczającej 13 ha, stanowiących naturalne siedlisko dla fauny krajowej.

Zoo słynie z bogatej kolekcji ptaków drapieżnych i sów, uznawanej za jedną z najcenniejszych w Europie. Otwarcie ogrodu miało miejsce w setną rocznicę powstania Starego Zoo przy ul. Zwierzynieckiej. W 2021 roku oddano do użytku nowy pawilon dla żyraf i nosorożców, a w 2022 roku do zoo przybyło dziewięć lwów, sześć tygrysów oraz inne zwierzęta z azylu w Ukrainie.

Nowe Zoo angażuje się w ochronę zagrożonych gatunków, takich jak kowari, kazuar hełmiasty czy jeleń baweański. Od 2003 roku zoo prowadzi hodowlę jeleni Alfreda, a w 2016 roku urodził się czterdziesty przedstawiciel tego gatunku.
